Renoir landscape interpretation

One of the many joys of working with fabric mosaics is to be asked to create a unique piece for a particular area, either for a lobby in a public space or for an interesting wall in a residence.

My decision to test the technique using an Impressionistic painting (such as a Seurat) led to this commission to create a wall hanging in a residence using a landscape by Renoir. It is an interesting example of using classic art to create contemporary art.

The result is shown above hanging in the client’s home. It took 4 months to create the custom one-of-a-kind art piece (115” x 65”) out of over 3000 fabric squares cut from several hundred different fabrics.
I painted the tree trunks and branches for added effect. The wall quilt is completely hand tied with stitch
in the ditch around the edges.

Here are some questions to ask yourself if you're considering having a custom landscape art piece made for your home:

* Do you know what you like?
* Do you know what you want?
* Do you have a particular style in mind?
* Do you know the size you need for a particular area?
* Do you have a color scheme already in your home?
* Do you have a budget you are working with?
* What is your time frame?

I work spontaneously based on colors chosen as well as interpreting photos in a variety of styles. Commissioned art work is priced per square foot according to techniques used and requires a contract
with a down payment. Please contact me at topkat@katrinasjoberg.com for further information.

All my artworks have designer labels on the back which I customize for each art quilt. I also provide a signed Certificate of Authenticity with some details about the history and design of the art quilt. Also included is an Instruction for Care sheet which gives you all the information you need to know about
caring for a textile art piece.

Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you enjoyed viewing these art pieces as much as I enjoyed creating them.
