Watercolors For larger views click on photos If you are interested in any of the quilts on this page please contact me at Katrina@designbykatrina.com Here are some "watercolor" or "colorwash" wall hangings that won ribbons in local art shows. "Colorwheel Floral" 43" x 47" view1 view 2 closeup1 closeup2 I called this art quilt Colorwheel Floral because when I looked at it and saw my colorwheel chart hanging nearby, I realized I had almost all the colorwheel colors present. There's a wonderful glow about this bouquet of flowers in a vase full of water. Depending on the time of day, the colors change almost shimmering with light as the sun changes on the sky. Just like the Impressionist wall hangings on my other page, the blending effects of the hundreds of fabric squares are more effective from a distance. With all the colors used here, you could blend the Colorwheel Floral into many different decorator color schemes.
closeup1 closeup2 in progress view2 This Tuscan style wallhanging is another recent prize-winner, being awarded a "Best of Show" at a local multi-media art show. Another one in the so-called "watercolor" or "color-wash" techniques in a beige-brown-green-purple color scheme, suitable to be displayed on an Old World style textured wall. It would be absolutely spectacular in a Tuscan home! The birds are hand-appliqued to the top which was machine-pieced from hundreds of 2" x 2" fabric squares sewn together by machine. There's also some attractive machine embroidery on the two borders adding texture as well as design interest to the art quilt. It is available for purchase. You may contact me at ksjoberg@katrinasjoberg.com for more information on any of the above art pieces or any other designs you would like to have customized to your home or office.
