Here are some samples of what I've done with my handpainted wholecloth fabric art panels. I think of these art pieces as modern textile art.

Machine-embroidered with metallic threads and finished with color pencil highlights. As you machine stitch with colored threads you are actually quilting the wall hanging so there is no need to do any additional machine or hand quilting.

I took a photo of this old palm tree trunk on the boardwalk in Oceanside where I live and translated it into this piece of art.

Another one of my hand painted fabrics treated with rocksalt and finished with freeform machine stitching on top of the painted background muslin fabric. I used lots of metallic threads and in a certain light the thread painting adds a new dimension to the wall hanging. I really like experimenting with these new forms of quilting arts.
