I have used the technique of raw edge sewing quite a bit in my art quilts over the years. Using batik scraps makes it easy since the edges usually don’t unravel. The same goes for my hand-painted fabric scraps, the edges stay intact. I had a small piece of a hand painted background fabric and some other scraps. Silver lace bits and pieces were catching my eye and so I just let my imagination take over and this charming silver landscape emerged. Having a rounded edge gave the art quilt softness and visual interest.
